What is GAAD?
Ftorom the Home page of GAAD website
Global Accessibility Awareness Day is a community-driven effort whose goal is to dedicate one day to raising the profile of and introducing the topic of digital (web, software, mobile app/device etc.) accessibility and people with different disabilities to the broadest audience possible.
Many designers, developers, champions of information and communication technology (ICT) use, and others are unaware of what needs to be done and where they can go to learn how to make technologies accessible and inclusive to users with different disabilities. Another reality is that professionals who work in the field of digital accessibility often find themselves preaching to the converted. Global Accessibility Awareness day’s mission is to help improve these situations.
How we plan to celebrate?
We are spreding the word about the event and helping community to host an event in different cities including Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochin etc.
In addition, we plan to celebrate the event by hosting a free consultation service on web accessibility from 1st May, 2013 to 15th May 2013. This consultation includes:
- Review 3 pages (main, one internal and one with forms) of your website and provide a brief report
- Answer 3 questions related to web accessibility via email
- Answer questions related to the importance of web accessibility
Please send in your questions to helpdesk(at)sgaccessibility(dot)com
In addition, we would be posting a few tips on web acccessibility. So stay tuned to our Articles page.
