We believe, no engineer or a product owner intend to build inaccessible websites or applications. It all happens due to lack of awareness and at times, there would be need to remind the basics. Through our experience, we have realized that once any engineer understands the need for accessibility, they do always keep the same in mind. It is just that we need to provide them the path to think from the prospective of all users. Some of the trainings we offer are:
- Sensitizing towards people with disabilities – this is not a standalone training offer but essential and included in all our training programs. This module include sensitization towards people with different disabilities, the use of assistive technologies, the challenges faced by people with disabilities due to inaccessible web
- Understanding Guidelines for Indian Government Websites – these guidelines are developed by National Informatics Centre and implemented by Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India. These guidelines came into being in the year 2009 and yet, we see several new websites do not comply with these guidelines; we understand the reason and help you understand these guidelines so as to enable you to build inclusive websites for our Government and provide equal access to all citizens.
- Understanding Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 developed by Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) team of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C); these are the guidelines that are used across the world to develop web sites and application.
- Understanding Section 508 – if you are building web for the United State of America, you would need to comply with Section 508 of Americans with Disability Act
In addition to the above, we also provide training on specific technologies such as how to build rich internet applications that are accessible using the WAI – ARIA etc. Remember, to bild accessible web, you do not require to compromise on the technology you love to use.
If you are a disability organization and wants to bring in more accessibility talent into the community, do let us know, we can work with you to get your clients trained in accessibility testing.
